Istanbuls the largest city in Turkey and 5th largest city proper in the world with a population of 12.8 million.The name "İstanbul" (Turkish pronunciation: [isˈtanbuɫ], colloquially [ɯsˈtambuɫ]) derives from the Medieval Greek phrase "εἰς τὴν Πόλιν" [is tin ˈpolin] or, in the Aegean dialect, "εἰς τὰν Πόλιν" [is tan ˈpolin] (Modern Greek "στην Πόλη" [stin ˈpoli]), which means "in the city" or "to the city"

Istanbul was chosen as a European Capital of Culture for 2010.It extends both on the European (Thrace) and on the Asian (Anatolia) sides of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world that is situated on two continents. The Bosphorus, which connects the Sea of Marmara to the Black Sea, divides the city into a European, comprising the historic and economic centers, and an Asian, Anatolian side; as such, Istanbul is the only bi-continental city in the world.

The urban landscape of Istanbul is shaped by many communities. The religion with the largest community of followers is Islam. Religious minorities include Greek Orthodox Christians, Armenian Christians, Catholic Levantines and Sephardic Jews.

All stones and marbles were brought in from various parts of Turkey, to be a representation of Turkish People's devotion to the founder of the republic. Easily processed porous travertine is used on external cladding of the concrete surfaces and marble is used for the inside surfaces of the Hall of Honour.

01012011


Today is 01012011. Do i have New Year solution?We had a great nite with opening bottle of white wine and fireworks on rooftop. However is that celebration of mine journey back home? I failed to change my flight as less than 48hours. I have to purchase a new flight. I really had planning. Why does it work very well when travel in NZ. HOwever i should think about what am i going to do for 2011. Should i keep travelling? or just with work exchange?teach yoga?or find 5days work job???God know!!
